Love Island Wardrobe Must Haves
This time last year we were glued to the television watching Marcel trying really hard to keep his blazing squad past a secret from the other housemates, whilst a true bromance was blossoming between Kem and Chris and Muggy Mike was ruffling some feathers with his re-coupling selections.
Fast forward 12 months and the scenario isn’t too much different. Whether you have lost yourself in the hunt for Niall’s rainbow fish, are still searching for Hayley’s personality or simply cannot wait to see who Eyall gets deep and meaningful with next the fact is that it is going to be hard to take your eyes off the screen for the next 6 weeks.
“I’ve got a text!”
During the last week, we have seen some of the islanders pull off some amazing looks. In this blog post we explore some of the islanders’ outfits and give you our insight into the Love Island Wardrobe Must Haves… Who knows, you may even be an islander yourself next year!
Sliders vs Flip Flops
This debate is open once again. It seems that whenever we discuss summer footwear the slider vs flip flop debate is never far behind.
Overall, both work really well and the choice is really just down to personal preference. In this series we have seen the boys don both sliders and flip flops and some have even worn both in the opening week.
Swimming Shorts
In previous seasons of Love Island the boys have opted for loud and brightly patterned swimming shorts. Maybe this is an attempt at ‘peacocking’ and trying to draw the attention of the ladies or maybe it was just fashion choices at the time. This year, although we have seen a few pairs of patterned shorts, generally they have been block colours or with a subdued pattern. This makes them easy to wear with everything and you certainly won’t draw any unwanted attention.
Your swim shorts should cut to around the mid-thigh level and remember to not wear anything that is too tight.
Short Sleeve Shirts
The summer and short sleeve shirts are a combination that definitely wins. The short sleeve shirt can be utilized as both day wear and evening wear and it will give you two completely different looks. On the island we have seen islanders opt for shirts that don bold patterns such as camouflage and also team swim shorts with plain block colour shirts.
Chinos
When it comes to evening wear in the villa it seems to be that chinos are an all-time favourite. Chinos are extremely versatile and can be paired with a well fitted t shirt for a more casual look or they can be teamed with a shirt to go for something a little more formal. When you never know if you have a date around the corner or if the love of your life is about to walk through the villa door then having something that can be used in both scenarios is pretty handy.
Shoes
The islanders have shown as an array of styles so far with both casual and formal styles being displayed over the last week. When it comes to footwear we have seen classic runners, loafers and boat shoes. However, the ones we have enjoyed the most has been the loafers.
Loafers, similar to chinos, can be used for both formal and informal settings and are therefore extremely versatile. If you are pairing your loafers with jeans or chinos don’t be afraid to show a little ankle.
