4 Bags Fit For Summer Travels
Summer Bags
Are you scrolling through a number of different flight options? Earmarking travel books for the perfect destination? Planning a summer adventure? Whatever your travel plans are this year, one thing is for certain; you are going to need somewhere to safe and reliable to store your small belongings.
Obviously, the first port of call when it comes to carrying small items is to put them all in your pocket. However, anything larger than your phone or wallet is likely to become uncomfortable (and start to look like you have wedged a small bowl of fruit into your pocket).
In this day and age, we are constantly on the move, travelling to and from work, off on mini adventures or even just to see our friends and family. We are also more equipped than ever with personal belongings being at an all-time high. Keys, wallets, phones, headphones, tablets, books, sunglasses, shoehorns, sandwiches, super galactic space rockets… Ok, we are probably exaggerating with the super galactic space rockets, but all of the other items are items that we would carry with us on a daily basis.
If you hadn’t quite guessed it yet, the ideal accessory here is a bag. Bags are not only practical but they also look pretty cool too. Here we take a look at 4 different bags to suit all of your travel needs this summer.
Types of Bags
Holdall
The holdall aka the duffel bag has been prominent since the 17th century. The bag is generally constructed of thick material or leather and shaped like a barrel or rectangular. The holdall usually features a detachable over the shoulder strap as well as two handles to allow the bag to be carried.
A holdall does it exactly what it says on the tin, holds all!
These types of bags are usually great for larger items and you can throw quite a lot inside. The downside to this is that they rarely feature any compartments and so some items can get lost at the bottom of your bag. The holdall is perfect bag for the gym, overnight bag or to put clothes/beachwear in for when you are travelling.
Messenger Bag
The messenger bag has survived it all, if any item could tell its life story then this bag would be the most interesting. The messenger bag has been through battles, ridden on horseback and been a postman’s right hand man and yet it still remains a true classic piece of menswear.
Messenger bags feature a single strap that is worn over your shoulder with a fold over flap concealing the main compartment. They are versatile and convenient being able to hold laptops, books and small items in cleverly designed compartments whilst remaining smarter than a backpack.
Cabin Baggage
Cabin baggage refers to the baggage that each passenger is allowed to take inside the cabin during the flight. Some people call this hand luggage or carry-on luggage. This luggage is particularly important as it not only stores a majority of your small items that you will need at the terminal (passport, tickets, wallet) but, it will also be used for any extras that you couldn’t fit in your case. Don’t worry, we have all been there.
To make our travels more enjoyable we look for things that make our life easier. Therefore, the perfect cabin baggage should have wheels, a drag and side handle, easy to reach compartments and be made of a sturdy material. It goes without saying that you should check the airlines regulations before purchasing any cabin luggage as you don’t want to be organizing your underwear in the middle of a packed airport.
Backpack
The backpack is the most popular type of bag on the market. It has only been around for a short period of time, but it has created a stir since its arrival. First produced in 1967 the backpack was designed primarily for hiking, camping and alpine recreation.
The back pack is extremely useful as not only can it hold a lot of your personal belongings, but it also will feature a range of useful compartments such as laptop sleeves, key holders and water bottle pockets. The backpack tends to be a more casual bag but its number of uses are endless. The gym, the beach, travelling or for work the backpack has become a man’s best friend. If you are looking to use your back pack for work then think about choosing a leather pack as these tend to have a more formal appeal.
Bags
The uses for a bag are endless and the number of available options is pretty similar.
There are different bags for different occasions and no doubt you will have a few in your locker already.
Remember, for smaller items you want to see small compartments that are easily reachable, this will make your life a lot easier when searching for items in a hurry.
