Summer Shades – Colours You Should Be Wearing This Season
Summer Clothing for Men
When we think about summer and the colours associated with it we imagine bright reds, yellows and oranges to represent heat and beautiful summer sunshine. We look at light greens and sky blues to characterize the rolling Mediterranean hills or the azure skies of the Algarve.
However, when we think about men’s fashion we often look to naturally more winter colours, the colours that are more versatile and often perceived to be ‘safe’ (blacks, navy’s and grey’s). Whilst these colours are safe options and are a staple in every man’s wardrobe, they can also become quite boring and now that the summer is almost here why not freshen up your wardrobe with some fresh new colours?
In this blog we run through our favourite shades for this summer and show you some fine examples to help you add some colour to the season.
Yellow Clothing for Men
We’re straight in at the deep end with a bright summer colour, yellow. Yellow has been tucked away for a long time, however, it looks like it is making a big comeback and we couldn’t be happier about it.
Yellow is undoubtedly a tricky colour to pull off, however, if worn correctly it can be very flattering. Men with slightly lighter skin tones should avoid wearing yellow where possible to avoid looking “washed out”.
The best advice with yellow is to remember to keep it toned down. Look for shades such as mustard and pair with some of your safer colours for summery on trend look.
Pink Clothing for Men
Pink has often been regarded as a feminine colour. It championed throughout the 90’s as a colour that signified girl power. However, if worn correctly pink can be an extremely versatile and sophisticated colour.
Now, before you completely disagree with us please remember that we are not referring to Barbie pink, we are talking about more subtle tones such as dusty pink, rose, peach and the more washed out shades. These understated tones of pink offer a refined, sophisticated look and can be paired with a number of other shades such as olive green, navy, brown and black.
Red Clothing for Men
Red is a bold colour that generally represents power, passion and strength and for these reasons alone it should already have a place in your wardrobe.
Classically red has been worn by varsity age college students such as the infamous Marty McFly red body warmer but it is not just a colour for college goers. Red can bring about a stylish look too and can be paired with shades such as denims and beiges.
Summer Clothing Simplified
With so many colours on offer in men’s fashion it is a crime that most of us tend to stick to as “safe colours”. The brighter and bolder shades can certainly have pitfalls and can sometimes go wrong, however, they can also brighten up your look and some colours will make you look more eye-catching and appealing.
This summer why not try some new shades such as red, yellow or pink or other summer trend colours such as oranges, pastel purple and sapphire blue. Check us out here for some more shades that might catch your eye this summer.
