The Secrets to Athleisure
Athleisure
Athleisure is the word on everybody’s lips right now, from A-list celebrities all the way down to the coolest kids at school and we can’t see that changing any time soon. With A-list celebrities such as Drake and Kanye championing this new style trend it is sure to be a go to style for the future.
In this blog we break down what the Athleisure style is all about and what items you need to keep up your A game!
What Is Athleisure?
Attending the gym is not only good for you, but in recent years it has also become more popular across the different generations. This is in part due to the sharper focus on aesthetics and part to the widened availability for everyone to attend.
This spike in popularity has led to the birth of athleisure clothing. Athleisure is clothing that has been designed for workouts or other athletic activities, but is worn in other settings such as strolling around town, going to the cinema or even for a casual dinner. The athleisure movement has been growing in popularity since 2016 and we are now at an all-time high.
The benefits of this style are that it is extremely comfortable – as it is designed for working out. Generally, most items are versatile and can be teamed with your other athleisure pieces and this look can be suited to a wide range of different activities.
Joggers
When it comes to bottoms you have two choices. You can opt for a more tapered, skinnier pair of joggers that will be tight towards your ankle and provide a more slim line look. Or, you can opt for the classic jogging bottoms that will generally be thicker, looser and more casual.
Jackets/Hoodies/Sweatshirts
Generally most athleisure pieces will come as part of a tracksuit teaming jogging bottoms with a jacket, hoodie or sweatshirt. This makes your life really convenient as you can quickly throw together your outfit without too much thought.
Don’t be afraid to team pieces of athleisure wear that do not come as a pair as this can give your look a more unique vibe. Consider a slightly oversized jumper teamed with more tapered bottoms to give your outfit some shape.
T-Shirts
Plain crew neck t-shirts in simple block colours are your best bet here. They are exceptionally versatile and will work with every outfit, but they are also perfect if you fancy nipping in to the gym to knock out a few bicep curls. Remember, the key to athleisure is to keep it casual.
Trainers
Obviously the look would not be complete without a pair of trainers. To keep in trend with the rest of the outfit opt for trainers that would be suitable for running in also. Vintage running trainers are extremely popular right now and not only do they finish the outfit off well, they make a statement too.
Athleisure Low-Down
Remember that athleisure wear is a casual look and that it can be utilised in a number of different settings. You can mix brands and tracksuits up to create your own unique look, but try to use colours that compliment each other when doing so.
