The World Cup Fever
World Cup fever is sweeping the planet as we approach the opening fixture of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. For the last 2 years countries from all over the globe have been fiercely competing to earn themselves a place at the world’s biggest stage and today it is finally here.
Not only is it a chance to cheer on your country in an attempt to become victorious as the world champions, but, you now have complete control over the television. For the last 6 weeks you have been putting the graft in and letting your wife dominate the controls (and we feel your pain whilst you’ve been sat through endless episodes of Love Island, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills or TOWIE) but now, it makes it all worthwhile.
It begins… three fixtures per day for the next two weeks and then at least one for the following two weeks. Nail-biting games like Iran vs Morrocco to start, Japan vs Colombia to follow and ending with the big guns, Spain vs Portugal. Of course you are going to watch all three and yes every game is important. England might even do well this year and the work Gareth Southgate has been putting in certainly looks promising, let’s hope the three lions can at least make it to the last 16.
In this blog post we’ll look at fashion brands from around the globe whose home nation has made it to this year’s World Cup.
Where better to start than the nation that has won the world cup the most – 5 times to be exact.
Brazil always light up the stage by bringing flair and talent to the tournament and this year they are no different. They are one of the favourites to lift the trophy and even if they don’t they’re likely to be exiting watch. Put it this way, you’d be very happy if you had Brazil in your sweepstake this year.
Havaianas are born in the South American samba nation and they are an extremely popular footwear choice. Comfortable, durable and coming in a range of colours it is hard to find someone that doesn’t like Havaianas.
Sweden are an outside bet. They’re not likely to win the tournament (especially with the absence of the Lion – Zlatan Ibrahimovic) however, what Sweden bring to the competition is a sturdy team that is efficient and hard to break down. Much like the brand J Lindeberg.
This clothing brand provides high quality garments that are smart and stylish with a classic feel to them.
Another favourite in the tournament and a team that has enjoyed success on 4 separate occasions including a 7-1 drubbing over Brazil 4 years ago. The German team will certainly be efficient and no doubt will enjoy moderate success this year, if not going all the way.
With most things Germany tends to produce high quality products and Birkenstock follow this trend perfectly. This sandal is extremely high quality and one that will be part of your wardrobe for a long time. The Birkenstock looks equally good as either casual or more formal wear and can be seen at the beach or heading to a late afternoon lunch. Looks great with both chinos and shorts and you’ll be hard pressed to find a more comfortable sandal.
Japan enter the World Cup with odds of around 250/1 of winning the tournament. However, they do have a relatively easy group to contend with so we may see them in the last 16.
As for fashion, Japan has often been top of the table. We often see some unique and on point fashion trends come out of Japan and fashion label Edwin has provided top quality denim since 1947.
As always France are up there with the big dogs. They have an array of players that make their squad particularly strong and superstars such as Paul Pogba and Antoine Greizman should bring the spark to the French team in order to win it.
Like the French football team France produces a number of different quality labels but the one we have selected is Lacoste. First born in the 1930s by a French tennis player, the brand has gone on to become one of the leading sports luxury brands across the globe and the famous crocodile is recognized worldwide.
Like the rest of the nation we are hoping that this year can be the year that England announce themselves on the world stage again. With a young squad and some exceptional talent coming through we are certainly in with a chance.
