How should a man wear a gilet?
In terms of fit, a men's gilet should have a similar fit as a waistcoat, it should be snug but not too tight. However, in terms of style, a gilet should always be worn over the top of a shirt or jumper and underneath a coat if necessary. We find that a gilet looks best when layered over a long-sleeved crew neck or polo shirt, or over a button down shirt. A gilet is best worn with jeans or chinos.

What colour gilet is best?
Since gilets are designed for layering, a neutral dark colour is best. We would recommend wearing a gilet that is black, navy, or grey as these colours are more likely to fit well with your existing wardrobe and can create a more balanced look.

Should a gilet be tight or loose?
A gilet should be a snug fit, it should neither be too tight or too loose. A loose fitting gilet will allow the heat to escape, where a tight fitting gilet will restrict your movement and make layering uncomfortable. There should be room for a layer or two underneath the jacket, and you shouldn't feel restricted when the jacket is zipped.
